Peachy News: Cast of City of Bones Q&A

Hello dear readers!

Fans of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare must be pretty psyched by now to realize that the movie of the first book City of Bones is inching closer and closer to the cinema screen (I for one sure am!!).

Part of the cast (Lily Collins{Clary Fray}, Jamie Campbell {Jace Wayland}, and Kevin Zegers {Alec Lightwood}) showed up to the WonderCon 2013 yesterday where they not only held a Q & A but also exposed a new trailer and character posters of Clary and Jace.

Check out the video below!
Recordings by RamaScreen

The interviewer asked Cassandra Clare if the movie has kept to the story in the book and Ms. Cassandra's answer was that from what she saw it does keep the essence of the book and from the casting and the costumes she feels that it does portray true aspects of the story..

I really truly hope that they really keep close to the book, and not deviate of miss out huge chunks from the story which I felt they did with the Hunger Games. Hunger Games movie was lacking the connectivity and the built of relationship between the characters, and that made me not like the movie as much as maybe other did... So I really hope the producers kept to the book and didn't 'loosen the ropes' on the important aspects of the story.

Apparantly the showed a new trailer however this was UNFORTUNATELY not recorded in YouTube recordings (very sad!!). But at least we know there is one out there so keep your eyes peeled! I am sure that it will be out very soon :)

I did however find some pictures from jaceandclary.com  of the new theatrical trailer:

You all know where that Garden scene leads to (aaaaahh :P)! I'm still very excited about the movie! To get a clearer idea of what the trailer revealed, you can read more about it here

What do you guys think? Are you also still super excited for the movie to come out?

Q: Tell us about the most emotional scene you've ever read in a book - and how did you react?

DeliriumHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)The most recent emotional scene I experienced was in the book Delirium by Lauren Oliver towards the end. I really don't want to spoil that moment since it is right at the end of the book, but those who have read it must know which scene I mean. I seriously cried like a little baby during that scene, lol.

Another emotional scene I experienced was in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the very last Harry Potter book out the series. I definitely cried during the battle scenes and its final result. Come to think of it, I even cried more when I realized the series was over!!! :P

What was your most emotional scene ever in a book?

My Review:

** Disclaimer: I was privileged to receive a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. My review is not biased and it is written as my personal opinion**

This was truly a very intriguing book and something entirely different than what I have read before. Not only is the essence of the story so captivating, but also the entire contents including the characters, the writing style, and the vast amount history put in to this book, so very fascinating! The story goes into so much thoughtful detail and there is no end to the unpredictable happenings throughout, that as a reader you don't have one moment to be bored. I  never knew what would happen next and this really kept my interest and curiosity at a peak throughout the entire book!

The characters were enjoyable to follow throughout. The main character, Kendra is primarily known to be a strong young Korean woman, who normally does not falter, let men hinder her in any way, or physically does not seem bothered by what others think. You would at first sight (or should I say at first 'read') perceive that she is throughout emotionally and physically grounded. This however changes drastically when she purchases a very expensive Korean doll which encases an ancient Korean ghost that slowly changes and possesses her life.

The characters surrounding Kendra were sincere, however sometimes I felt that not all the relationships she shared with other characters were put into much detail or depth as the relationship she had with Hiro, her lover. The connection between Kendra and Hiro was realistic to me as in how there was no 'love at first sight' and that it had its genuine ups and downs as usual relationship do. However I could not fathom how Hiro had developed (so instantly) a deep passion for Kendra that he would literally leap head over heals to make sure that she is safe and well treated.
I almost wished that Kendra's relationship with Hunter, her housemate, was more developed and pressed on more to really create a stronger 'love triangle'. But this was unfortunately for me not too much explored throughout the story. This is a downside for me, as you readers know by now how much I adore love triangles, but my downside could be strong positive for another depending on their preference in the existence of love triangles ;)

I want to emphasize on the doll and what kind of impact it had on me as a reader. Mrs. Atwood is so good at describing the doll's appearance, its effects on Kendra, and what it represents in totality, that the ghost within the doll truly frightened me and tugged at all my emotions. The doll physically is only a doll, but slowly throughout the story you realize there is much more beyond is physicality. I love how the doll was the instigator of the connection between Kendra and Hiro. Their relationship only grew stronger through the experiences they had with the doll.

The way Mrs. Atwood pulled the reader into the past of the Doll's ghost was very unique. I found it so creative how physically Kendra stayed in the present, but was pulled during her sleep, drugging, or other ways, into the 16th-Century in Korean history. You can really tell that Mrs. Atwood dug up a lot of dusty books and sought out for loads of expertise on Korean history to create such a in-depth and realistic portrayal of how times were back in that century. Due to my childhood friend who was from South Korea, I have always been very curious about their history and this book exceedingly fed that curiosity well.

I most definitely recommend this book to readers who love a bone thrilling story which is oh-so-much-more than just your usual ghost story. The present and past are so symbolically mingled together that it makes this book different than your every other paranormal, historical romance,  and action packed book.

Once she brings the doll home, Kendra pays little attention to misplaced objects or her beloved dog’s fear. That is, until one terrifying night forces her to question her very sanity. Soon, the ethereal, brooding NanJu manifests herself, and Kendra begins her travels through time to 16th century Korea into a history of conflict and intrigue. For Kendra is about to discover the dark past of her ghostly visitor.

Now it’s up to Kendra, with Hiro by her side, to interpret the past and prevent murder. Everything depends upon Kendra’s success, even—she discovers to her horror—her own life. - Goodreads

Peachy News: More Divergent Actors Casted!

Hello, Hello everyone! I hope all you readers out there are having a fun, sunny and work/school free Tuesday ;)

Readiculously-Peachy has been a bit slow lately with posting/reading/reviewing due to the fact that I have a very terrible financial exam coming up soon! Seeing that I want and need to pass it, as it's the only exam standing in the way of my graduation, I have decided to take on a tutor to help me out. Soo... that unfortunately leaves me will less time posting, reading and reviewing!!

Anyways, I thought I would share a nice goodie with you guys just because this just came out in the open (and because I love you alll )! Seeing that I have been in the 'Divergent mood' for a while now on this blog, I have another news flash for the fans (well for those who didn't already know).

Three more characters in the Divergent movie (rumored to come out on March 21st, 2014, so brace yourselves for a long wait!) have been casted: Edward, Al and Will!

Ben Lam will be playing Edward, Christian Madsen will be playing Al, and Ben Lloyd Hughes will be playing Will!

I must say, I find the actors quite adult-looking, which I am actually relieved and happy about because then I don't have to be scared that Divergent is going to be another of those sappy teenage movies! It's a very serious, hardcore and violent story, so I hope they decide to keep it in that atmosphere.

What do you guys think of the castings? Were these three handsome guys who you had in mind for the roles?

Let me know in the comments below!

P.s: Giveaway + Review coming up soon so keep your eyes peeled ;)

Peachy Update: Interview

Don't forget to check out my Giveaway of $25 Amazon Gift Certificate! Click here or on the banner!

Helloo readers!

A few days back, I had the privilege to be  interviewed by the wonderful Kimberly Marie @ Many Books Many Lives and she recently posted it up on her blog! I love doing little interviews and really enjoy revealing my thoughts and information about my blog. Here is a little sneak peak of the interview:

Introduce yourself.

My name is Florentine and I run a book blog named Readiculously Peachy. I take pleasure in travelling, swimming, socializing and of course reading and blogging! I am a positive, bubbly, outspoken and open minded person. I would like to thank my wonderful parents for these traits, who took me from a small Caribbean island called Aruba, to the fantastic sophisticated city of Paris in France, and to the grounded but very international country also known as The Netherlands (my home country). Now I currently live in London with my handsome and supportive boyfriend and my little hamster named Houdini (can you guess why?), working away on developing and updating my blog!

The name of your blog is so different, how did you come up with it?

While I was creating my blog I was thinking of what would be the catchiest name for people to remember… I really started brainstorming and tried matching, comparing, and combining many different words together which were relevant to books and reading… and somehow I came up with Readiculously Peachy! In my own words it means ridiculously good books ;) but then written out with a 60’s groovy swing to it! It ended up being quite catchy in the end and now many people are prone to call me Ms. Peachy! I encourage it as once a nickname is set, people will definitely remember you by it ;)

Read the rest of the interview here

Many thanks and appreciation goes out to Kimberly Marie @ Many Books Many Lives for taking the time to show interest in my work and my blog and interviewing me! Make sure to visit and  follow her awesome blog!

Peachy News: Actor for FOUR (Divergent) Confirmed

Thanks to Bayan Basri I found out that Four, the male lead character of Divergent, has been confirmed an actor for the role! And no this isn't  Alexander Ludwig (thank GOD!), it in fact is Theo James! Now this is definitely what I had more in mind for Four! He is known to play a role in  Downton Abbey, Underworld: Awakening and Golden Boy.

Peachy News: Divergent Cast Update

Don't forget to check out my Giveaway of $25 Amazon Gift Certificate! Click here or on the banner!

Unless you have been living under a rock lately, you should know by now that Divergent, written by Veronica Roth, is being made into a movie!! So most of you may already know who has been casted to play Tris' character, Shailene Woodley, and Four's character, Alexander Ludwig (I am not so sure about this one)...

...but now it is made clear who will be playing Tori, Christina and Caleb. It has recently been announced by Veronica Roth that Maggie Q, (aka Margaret Denise Quigley) who is also seen in Nikita and Mission: Impossible III, will be playing tatoo-crazed Tori! Zoe Kravitz, the daughter of Lenny Kravits, who is also seen in X-Men: First Class, will be playing Christina. And Ansel Elgort, who will also be starring in the upcoming horror movie Carrie, will be playing Caleb. See pictures below (from left to right: Tris, Four, Tori, Christina, and Caleb)

Pictures from IMDB hollywoodreporter.com

I am really not sure about Four... to be brutally honest I pictured Four as a very Bold, confident and handsome character and unfortunately I do not see this in Alexander Ludwig. I also imagined Tori to be way more 'brute' looking... I feel like Maggie Q is way too pretty for the role ;)

What do you guys think about the casting so far? Is this how you portrayed the characters in your mind while you were reading the book(s)?

Let me know in the comments below!
